Financial Advisor Tom CarrollThomas Carroll, CFA

Tom Carroll spent twenty-six years with Mason Street Advisors, the investment management subsidiary of Northwestern Mutual Life. At Mason Street, Tom headed the company’s foreign equity investment team as Managing Director. Previously, Tom served as an equity portfolio manager and/or analyst at Texas Commerce Bank, MGIC Investment Corporation, and Trust Company of Georgia. Tom is President of Catholic Investment Strategies.

Tom Carroll is President of Catholic Investment Strategies, fulfilling a long term dream that started in his college days at the University of Wisconsin – Madison’s Applied Security Analysis Program. After decades in the financial world, including twenty-six years at Mason Street Advisors, the investment management subsidiary of Northwestern Mutual Life, Tom is now providing fellow Catholics a level of financial insight normally reserved to institutions.

When Tom left Mason Street Advisors, he joined Summit Investment Management, a Milwaukee-based firm with a unique sub-brand: Catholic Investment Strategies. As a committed Catholic, Tom enthusiastically turned this part of the company into a major priority. Under his leadership, it is now a viable way for Catholics to invest while staying true to the principles laid out in the United States Council of Catholic Bishop’s  Investment Guidelines.

Besides being blessed to bring the light of Christ into a major industry he loves, Tom is happily married to Gwen with whom he has seven children.

Portfolio Manager Tom CzechTom Czech, CFA

Thomas Czech, CFA came to Summit from Blunt, Ellis and Loewi/Kemper Securities, where he was employed as the regional brokerage firm’s First Vice President and Investment Strategist. Tom founded Catholic Investment Strategies to offer Catholics a viable way to remain true to their faith while also investing in equities.

After earning his MBA at Northern Illinois University, Tom was hired by Blunt Ellis & Loewi as an equity analyst in 1972. He was tasked as a generalist to discover attractive small growth companies across all industries.

In 1991, Tom was asked by Marv Swentkofske to join him at Summit, which Marv had founded four years earlier. Tom accepted the offer, joining Summit as Vice President. It was while working at Summit, that Tom developed Catholic Investment Strategies, staying faithful to the USCCB Guidelines while also invested in the market.

Portfolio Manager Kendra DeBaetsKendra DeBaets

Kendra has been employed by Catholic Investment Strategies since May 2001, and has been working in the Investment management business since 1999. She handles all of the daily operations and administrative needs of the office. She also works with our clients on a variety of issues from account set up to funds distributions and beyond. Prior to joining Summit, Kendra gained her initial experience in the investment industry while working at Ellenbecker Investment Group as an Administrative Assistant.
